Anne Nevins Diocesan library

The Anne Nevins Diocesan Library supports the curriculum requirements of the Institute of Catholic Studies and Formation and the research needs of its students, and serves as a community educational resource for the Diocese of Venice. The collection consists of approximately 13,600 volumes comprising monographs, serials, and audiovisual materials. The bulk of the collection is in LC classification BR-BX (Christianity, the Bible, doctrinal theology, practical theology, and Christian denominations, specifically Catholicism), but the library includes volumes in other related areas such as world religion, philosophy, history, social sciences, law, literature, and science. The library also maintains a collection of about 250 books, periodicals, and AV materials devoted to works by and about Catholic monk, poet, and mystic Thomas Merton.

Diocesan staff, Institute students, and individuals whose parishes maintain subscriptions to the Institute are entitled to borrow library materials. Others may obtain a library card and borrowing privileges by paying a one-time membership fee of $15. The library catalog is accessed online at Anne Nevins Diocesan Library. Instructions on using the catalog and the procedures for checking out materials can be found in the OPAC instructions document.

The library is currently available Monday - Thursday, 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM. It is recommended that you call (941) 766-7334 to schedule a library visit or to register for a library card. You may also e-mail Kathryn DeNinno at deninno@institute-dov.org. Please provide your name, Florida address, permanent address (if different), phone number, e-mail address, parish name, and whether you are staff, student, parish member or other. You will need a library account in order to reserve and check out materials.

The library also provides space for qualified parishes and individuals to host meetings, workshops, book clubs, movies, and other functions; and offers a coffee bar at the "Holy Grounds Cafe" in the lobby.
